{A Valentine's Day Table Runner...and other V-Day Crafts}

I so dislike dreary winter days, don't you? We've had some nice little snowfalls here and there this winter though, which has been quite nice to add some contrast to our usual gray-blue atmosphere. Still, after we took the Christmas decorations down at long last in mid-January, I wanted to do something crafty to add some color to the house. So my mom and I began making some Valentine's Day crafts this year.



My project was making a quilted table runner in pretty pinks and reds from my stash (which, after a basement clean-out, I've discovered I have a lot of!).


These include some favorite from outfits and gifts I've made...

...from a pair of PJ's...

...to a favorite now well-worn jumper...






...to a baby shower gift I made for a friend. :)

The only fabric I "had" to buy was for the binding on the edge. I wanted a cute heart pattern but Joann's was out. Who knew Valentine's Day was so popular? *blush*


The most difficult part was most certainly the heart applique'. I shall have to try my hand at some more projects in future using applique to get in some practice, and buy some materials to make this simpler...find some tricks, that sort of thing. But I'm pleased with how they turned out (I mean, at least they *look* like hearts). ;)

Satisfaction.

The table runner turned out exactly as I'd envisioned. And, it looks even better with our heart candle holders for a Valentine's meal. *happy sigh*

 ...Hmm, shall I make a spring table runner next perhaps? 

 *Mwhahahaa*

 And here are the decorations that Mom made, care of Pinterest, of course. In fact, my mom had a few of these made and up a couple weeks ago when my sewing student came in, looked at me and said, "Pinterest?". *cough* She knows me too well, me thinks. ;)
