30 Days of Thankfulness {2011}: Day 13

*R*

Blessed Lord's day everyone! :D

"Gratitude unleashes the freedom to live *content in the moment*, rather than being anxious about the future or regretting the past."-Ellen V. {from "Choosing Gratitude}

I am so thankful for God's teachings to me over the years in my journey of learning about contentment. :) In highschool, I read a book "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow and this was when I was introduced to "contentment". It was such a blessing to read this book and to discover area's of weakness and begin to work on them. Stress, worry, greed, and many other things can infiltrate my heart at any moment if I don't continue to keep in God's word and focus on Him instead of my troubles.

Contentment to me is being happy, thankful, and enjoying life in the place God has you, whether that be a difficult place or a good place. It's not been easy and many times I don't feel content. It's something I have to work on all the time, reminding myself of the basics of my faith and of the One who is in control of my circumstances. You can read more about my journey with contentment here.
"Contentment does not come when all in your life is going well. Contentment can only come from a day-to-day reliance and rest in God and a peace about where He has you in life at this moment and where He will have you in the next moment." ~ Rachel

"But godliness with contentment is great gain." ~ 1 Timothy 6:6

I am so thankful today that I can say "I am content" with where God has me. It's not perfect of course and many times my heart would desire more but even in that God helps me. :) He is so good!

"...for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be *content*." ~ Philippians 4:11

Blessings!
~Rachel~
